"Tom Sawyer is a mischievous young boy who lives in the town of St. Petersburg, Missouri with his Aunt Polly and half-brother Sid. He with his friend Huckleberry Finn accidentally witnesses a murder. The Adventures of Tom Sawyer is a series of exciting events: both friends identify Injun Joe, the real murderer, in the court, and testify to the innocent person who is wrongly accused. In the beginning of novel, Tom Sawyer is caught stealing jam from the jar and narrowly escapes being hit. His life is full of adventurous episodes. He along with Huckleberry Finn witnesses a trio of grave robbers in the graveyard at night. Then being struck by the idea of appearing at his own funeral, he hunts for buried treasure in a haunted house with Huck. He falls in love with Becky Thatcher and enjoys the new found freedom. Tom pursues Becky and persuades her to get engaged by kissing him. Their romance soon collapses when she discovers that Tom was engaged to another school girl. The book The Adventures of Tom Sawyer has been widely adapted into feature films and television series.
