With summer in full swing, you probably noticed the numerous vacation pictures your friends and family members have uploaded to Facebook and Instagram. You might even be on a getaway yourself at this very moment! With the holiday mood in the air, we’ve decided to expand our travel section to incorporate two incredible destinations.

In Expedition, we check out the Manu Biosphere Reserve in the Peruvian Amazon rainforest and offer you a selection of sustainable tours that will take you to nature’s best without harming the environment. Who knows, you might even be inspired to stay longer as a volunteer! But if you prefer venturing closer to home, our cover story takes you to northern Thailand, whose majestic beauty and aura of mystery have enchanted travellers for ages.

Our personality segments this month are dedicated to talented women from different walks of life. The Strive’s Zen Cho is a true, Malaysian-born writer who’s made a name for herself in the fantasy literature scene while working as a lawyer in the UK. Now that’s something you don’t hear about very often! Over at the Hot Seat, Lindsay Gasik is an American whose love for durian rivals that of any Southeast Asian. She probably knows more about the thorny fruit than anyone else alive, and that is saying something. Kim Miranda’s name may not ring any bells, but her creations have helped put a new twist on the boring stereotypes of Southeast Asian art. Read her story in Art Nouveau. Finally, Tongue-in-Chic’s Claire Jedrek tells us how being a female professional racer doesn’t give her any special treatment.

Over on our side, we’re working to expand our team so we can bring you even better stories than before. Get in touch with us on Facebook at Pendulum Asia and if you’re already a fan, do keep an eye out. You never know when we might suddenly feel generous to do a spontaneous giveaway.

Have a happy summer and we’ll see you in the fall.
