Roughly 7% of Baby boomers, Gen Xers and Millennials told us that technological progress had limited their opportunities to do what they love and make money at the same time. But those perceptions are an exception. While the sentiment is slightly pessimistic among this particular crowd, Gen Xers and baby boomers are particularly excited about the opportunities that digitization across sectors is offering today. With creative destruction in mind, we bring to you a list of the most influential young guns in tech who’ve shaped the world with technical change and entrepreneurial innovation. TECHNOWIZE 40 under 40 looks at disruptors, innovators, artists and rebels – all of whom have built something new and different, or simply disrupted the archaic way things were done. 

Netflix famously said it wanted to become HBO faster than HBO could become Netflix. Can online streaming TV prove to be a viable alternative to the traditional cable bundle? When my father turned forty, we threw him a tongue-in-cheek funeral themed party, deck the living room with memorabilia. We laughed and laughed about it – forty back then was older than forty today. In today’s world, we’re always on the hunt of “someone young and hungry.” The connotation is lucid: if you aren’t young, you probably have very little to contribute. In learning about these inspiring entrepreneurs, it’s easy to see why young billionaires have more innovation potential to do what really matters.


`If you could travel back in time three centuries, you’d encounter the last of Louis XIV’s wars for domination of the Europe, Benjamin Franklin publishing Poor Richard’s Almanack, and James Watt inventing the steam engine. This was a world during the Renaissance Age (14th to the 17th century) and a bridge between a period of European exploration and the age of machines. 
But what if we could look 300 years into the future? What would Earth look like in 2300? For starters, what will the weather be like? Will artificial intelligence have taken over the world? Will we have established the first human settlement on Mars?

The key thing about mortality is that its approach to a given question always seems, and on all levels, perfectly logical. Augmented Reality is most often described as the overlay of digital information on physical reality. From Google Glass to Microsoft’s HoloLens, our focus so far has been on amplifying pseudo-holography to alter our surroundings. Our lives will be arguably far more intricate; we will have far more choice than ever, saturated information, and the effects of this on our behavior and identity will be undeniably consequential. In the1960s, American psychologist Harry Harlow conducted a series of experiments which involved separating infant rhesus monkeys from their mother’s just hours after birth. Each infant was given a choice between two dummy mothers. One was made of wire and held a milk bottle; another was covered in synthetic fur to resemble a real money but provided no food. Harlow assumed the monkeys would gravitate towards the mother surrogate which gave them a basic need: sustenance. Much to his surprise, the monkeys preferred their realistic looking cloth surrogate mother for comfort and security, and would only select the metal wire mother when they needed food. Harlow’s experiments fleshed out “form, function, feeling,” by American architect Louis Sullivan, the core of modern human design principles. Form and function have become universal concepts, but there’s a third, more subtle factor at play in design: feeling.
