AN INTERNATIONAL show was held in Padova, Italy, on January 14/15. This was the third this year in Italy, where there will be 76 international shows during 2017!
The show was the Padova Fiera, which is in the city, with very good car parking and public transport so there were plenty of visitors, especially on Sunday. Arrival at the show and parking was quick and professionally managed.
The show was in two large halls, with 17 fully carpeted, good size rings. Breed judging started at 10am, but at about 2 or 3pm some specialties were held too. These club shows are important; mostly breed specialists were judging, and for the Italian champion title a CAC from a specialty is required. These included a show for one of the biggest breed clubs in Italy, the CIRN, for sled dogs and Nordic and Japanese breeds.
There were 20-25 trade stands and two buffets, with a good supply of drinks and sandwiches, but no other chances to eat.

Perfection In Presentation
WITH CRUFTS, the biggest and best dog show in the world – according to many dog folk – approaching, it is time to think about the need for presenting our dogs to perfection. Certainly Crufts will probably be the highlight for many breeders who want to show off their stock to a worldwide audience.

Going Around
THIS YEAR the TV coverage for Crufts was generous timewise so I was looking forward to how the new-look programmes would work. Having spent a few days writing articles and uploading photographs, I settled down to viewing the programmes on catchup.
