Toyota rounded off 2021 by revealing no fewer than 15 all-new EV concepts, most of which will become production vehicles in the next few years.
The diverse fleet unwrapped by president Akio Toyoda included city cars, SUVs, saloons, commercial vehicles and offroaders from both Toyota and Lexus, and two dramatically styled sports cars also making a shock appearance.
Toyota showed what could become the first EV from its Gazoo Racing performance sub-brand: a squat, low-slung, convertible two-seater with characteristically ‘midengined’ styling cues.
Toyota gave no details about the GR-badged car, stopping short of even giving it a proper name at this stage, but its compact proportions and overall shape line it up as a spiritual successor to the venerable MR2, which bowed out in 2007.
