'48 Chevy Pick-up

My name is Raymond Odendaal, I am from Welkom, 35 years old and work in the retail industry. This is the first Hot Rod I have ever built and it has been quite a journey. I am a complete rookie when it comes to building a vehicle but with the help of V8 shops, my friends and google I soon found my feet and got started.

My weapon of choice was a 48 Chevy pickup, which I found via the internet and had delivered from Cape Town. In January 2018, I started working on it. The bakkie was in bad shape, there was no engine, no doors, no seat and not even a gas tank and to top it all the vehicle had no papers.

I immediately started taking it apart. I sent the body in for sandblasting and while that was underway, I had some help fitting a Jaguar front and rear suspension. I then had some free time so I started ordering parts. Most of them came from LMC trucks and speedway motors in the USA. The seat was from a local scrapyard and the gas tank was custom built. I also had the front bumper rechromed.
