Wynand and Alfonso van der Westhuizen from Classic Restoration have been in the sandblasting industry for years.
Wynand explained that when he was younger his weekends were spent working on cars and since then, muscle cars have always been his favorite. They started off providing good quality sandblasting to clients and as their clientele grew with regards to the classic car side of the market, they decided to focus on classic restoration.
Eddie Holder contacted them via Facebook in response to an ad that they had placed. He was looking for a shop to restore his 1956 Chevy 210 back to the way it was in its glory days.
When they got the car, it was still in factory condition except for the vinyl top that had been removed years ago. There were some minor dents and bashes on the body and the colour was an ugly two-tone brown and white with a matching brownish interior.
Their plan was to turn the car into a Street Rod running a 350 Chevy engine with a 4-speed autobox, two-tone white and red exterior with matching two-tone interior, sitting on 18” wheels.
