It is easy to see where Allen Boonzaaier’s passion for muscle cars came from and in particular, the Chevy Camaro.
His childhood encompasses everything that any young petrolhead would absolutely love. He grew up surrounded by racing and muscle cars.
His dad, Daan Boonzaaier, raced during the early 1980’s at Tarlton and Rainbow Dragstrip. He had a 1970 Camaro and held the record at both of the racetracks. Allen was always present at the track when his dad was racing and helped in the pits. He also lined the car up and took photographs. The dream of one day owning his own Chevy Camaro stuck with Allen for many years and finally, it became a reality.
He owned a 1995 Corvette that he wanted to sell. He spotted the Camaro at the Creative Rides showroom. The car had come in when a pilot, who had imported a few cars, decided to sell them. The deal was done and he was the proud owner of the Camaro.
Allen already had a clear vision of what he wanted to achieve at the end of this rebuild. He wanted a Street Rod with clean lines, a slightly dropped suspension, a narrow wide wheel set-up, a 350 V8 Carb engine, branch stainless steel exhaust plus cut outs and a full leather interior (but understated). It had to be a one of a kind car.
