Excuse my French, but cancer is a real SOB—it takes no quarter, nor does it show favoritism when choosing its victims and how swiftly (or slowly) it takes its toll upon them. But until cures are discovered (or freed from governmental red tape and allowed to be used), cancer is an evil we must all coexist with. Nobody knows this more intimately than the family of John and Lorraine Dooley.

The Personal Side

A NorCal coastside native, John Dooley was born to be a fisherman, quite literally (it runs in the family). But during his formative years at Half Moon Bay High, when he wasn’t daydreaming about his future bride-to-be, Lorraine, his mind was often consumed by thoughts of one day owning a 389-equipped Pontiac GTO. However, once out of school and married, the next half-century was consumed by real-life responsibilities, which included running a very successful commercial fishing fleet with his brother, Bob.
