I ’ve always been into vans, and having sold my last business, a vintage photobooth that I had put in the back of a 72’ Renault Estafette, the time had finally come to realise the dream of buying a T6 Campervan.
I’d been searching online for weeks, looking at various conversion companies, I had even been into my local VW dealership to have a look at a new California. In the end I stumbled across a YouTube review by a guy called Lewis Von John. He’d just bought a converted van from a place called Status 1 Automotive, based up in Batley, West Yorkshire. Lewis had travelled up and down the country looking at various conversions and said that nothing had come close to the Status 1 van conversions for quality and finish. Having grown up not far from Batley, I knew exactly where these guys were based, so I jumped in the car and headed up the M62 to have a look for myself.
