Although I tend to refer to Bohemian Girl as ‘my boat’, the truth is I share it with my three brothers. By and large our arrangement works very well. The unwritten rule is that I do the bulk of the maintenance work (as I get the most use out of it) but we all chip in for the running costs. It means the boat is always serviced and ready to go whenever any of us want to use it but as we only pay a quarter share of the costs each, it doesn’t weigh too heavily on our bank accounts when we can’t. The only thing we all failed to take into account when we bought the boat over 10 years ago is that one day our ankle-biters would grow up and want to use the boat too. With a couple of them turning 21 last year, and several of them now in possession of their RYA Power Boat Level 2 certificates, it was time to bite the bullet.

After ten memorable days in the Lofoten Islands in the far north of Norway, we are on our way back south towards Sweden.
