Digitalization Has Become Inevitable
Manufacturing Today|September 2021
In an interview with Manufacturing Today, Subramaniam Thiruppathi, country lead for India and sub-continent, Zebra Technologies Asia Pacific, shares how they are empowering the front line of businesses to help them achieve better efficiency and business results.
Digitalization Has Become Inevitable

As manufacturing companies are pushed to go for digitalisation, what role you are looking to play in helping companies achieve their goals?

Regardless of the products they make, manufacturers today need improved quality, faster cycle times, and increased visibility and flexibility to stay competitive, while meeting regulatory compliance. To achieve this, digitalization has become inevitable.

Zebra’s manufacturing technology solutions enable manufacturers with enhanced visibility that empowers them with greater agility and the ability to optimize performance for their manufacturing plant floors. Zebra’s broad portfolio of manufacturing plant floor technology solutions, include printing, scanning, RFID reading, locationing and mobile computing technologies, which all contribute to helping manufacturers drive productivity.

For more than 50 years, Zebra has been empowering the front line of businesses to help them achieve better efficiency and business results. Our approach is to work closely with our partners to truly understand the challenges faced by our customers, before formulating tailored solutions that address their pain points.

What are the most sought-after technology/solutions?

Nearly every one of manufacturers’ goals – whether focused on mitigating issues or introducing new efficiencies – requires a greater level of operational visibility than what’s found in most production environments today.

Manufacturers are craving better connectivity between assets, materials, and people within the four walls. Traditionally, there has been a separation between enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems and operations technology. That must change. Therefore, manufacturers are turning to new technology, such as cloud-connected RFID solutions and sensors as well as mobile handheld computers and scanners.
