Achieving 2020 Education Targets: Opening Doors To Foreign Universities

As per recent reports, we as a country can give higher education to all of forty million candidates by the year 2020 via collaborating with foreign universities. We, as a nation, have set an aim to achieve 30 percent gross enrollment ratio (GER) in higher education by 2020. GER, in simple terms, is the total enrolment in higher education quarters in the population group of eighteen to twenty three years. In keeping with the HRD figures, the Indian GER stood at 24.5 percent in 2015-16. This is a very big hike from the ten percent figure it stood at in 2004-05.

Foreign universities, along with them, will bring in a different kind of cultural exchange program and vibe as well. It is known that some foreign universities are very vibrant in their way of education. Also, they will create an additional fund, an add-on corpus, in our country for us to draw from them. Not only will they bring in the way they teach, but also they will usher in newer cultural concepts which are endemic to their own cultures, but not to ours. We will get to engage in certain means and methodologies of education and other related spheres which are totally new to us. We will have a source of the foundation of enhancing our own knowledge base like no other.

A real enrichment of resources can be ours…….
