In the Tahitian language, there is neither letter “B” nor is there a sound equivalent to the “B” sound, so when initially foreign people came to the place they misheard the word and started calling it “Bora Bora” which eventually led the rest of the world to refer it to as Bora Bora.

The official currency of the island is the French Pacific Franc (CFP). One USD is equivalent to approximately 110 CFP. You can use credit cards and US dollars are also widely accepted here.
