She’s been tasting both commercial and critical success of late with a rollcall of films like Kabali, Phobia and Parched, making Radhika Apte the girl of the moment. But the actress tells Hi! Blitz why she’s deciding to take a break from films and how she’s turned the notion of a married actress not getting work upside down on its head.
Radhika Apte is having her cake and eating it too. Whether it was snagging every actress’ dream of working opposite Rajnikanth in Kabali, carrying Phobia solely on her shoulders to a reasonable box-office success or the critical acclaim that hasn’t stopped pouring in for Parched, her choices have been unconventional and diverse—and it’s paid off! Ask her what’s been her most cherish-worthy moment till date, and she credits Badlapur for oiling her career’s path. “There have been quite a few memorable moments you know... starting with Badlapur’s success. I got a lot of appreciation for that, which started the journey for me because a lot of my films hadn’t released by then,” explains Radhika, who grew up in Pune and honed her acting skills as part of a theatre group.
