There is no looking back for the ravishing Shraddha Kapoor, who's gone on to shake up the box-office with four back-to-back hits-a far cry from her launch vehicle that tanked miserably. This while also making a name for herself as a successful playback singer. In a candid interview, she tells Farhad J Dadyburjor why she still feels insecure when taking on a new film, how she's inspired by Lady Gaga and what's the most attractive quality of each of the leading hunks she's worked with.
Shraddha Kapoor is on a roll. She’s had four successive monster hits (Aashiqui 2, Ek Villain, Haider, ABCD 2), is being touted as the Blockbuster Princess and is just back from a weeklong family vacation to Hong Kong and Macau. If life has a sunny side up, she’s taking in every last ray. “On our holiday we were happily and constantly in each other’s faces, day in and day out. We just wanted to be with each other. We had connecting rooms, but we wouldn’t shut the middle door,” she says laughing, curled up on her living room sofa as she talks about her recent trip, “because it’s been so long since we went on a trip together—eight to ten years easily. It was quality family time because at home, my dad’s constantly working, I’m busy with work, my brother’s also busy with films now—in Mumbai we really don’t have that kind of quality time to spend with each other. The only time that we spend together at home is for morning tea.”
Not one to boast about label dropping shopping sprees or eating in chi-chi restaurants, for Shraddha it was Disneyland that nailed the spot. “Disneyland was really emotional for all of us. We were all teary at one point because we have such fond memories of going to Disneyland in Orlando while growing up. We had a lot of fun in the Mad Hatter’s Tea Cups where you keep moving in these gigantic tea cups and bump into each other. It was awesome because my parents were also really having fun at Disneyland—it’s not like they were bored, you could see the kids in them coming out,” she smiles.
