While the star of his celebrity may have dimmed in recent years, the outpouring of grief following the tragic death of former Home and Away heart-throb Dieter Brummer was testament to just how brightly he had once shone.
The actor, who portrayed Shane Parrish in the soap between 1992 and 1996, was found dead at his Glenhaven home in Sydney on the morning of July 24. Police had been called to the property to conduct a welfare check and later confirmed that his death was not believed to be suspicious. Brummer was just 45.
“We lost our handsome, talented, funny, complicated and beloved Dieter on Saturday morning,” a family member posted on Facebook on July 26, announcing the news. “He has left a massive hole in our lives and our world will never be the same,” the statement continued. “Our thoughts go out to all of you who knew him, loved him or worked with him over the years.”
