Host Ellen DeGeneres ends her daytime talk show with the sign-off “Be kind to one another”. Now she’s been forced to address workplace issues after numerous former staffers have come forward with allegations about her upbeat show’s toxic behind-the-scenes culture.
In early July, website BuzzFeed News published a report featuring one current and 10 former staffers speaking anonymously about their bad experiences on set, including claims of being penalized for taking medical leave, instances of racial microaggressions, and fear of retribution for raising complaints.
