He’s more famous for the women he’s dated and his battles with addiction than for his blossoming comedy career. But for Pete Davidson, all that’s about to change. When The King of Staten Island is released on June 25, the world will really get to know the 26-year-old. Why? Revered director Judd Apatow’s latest movie masterpiece is based on Davidson’s own heartbreaking childhood, which goes a long way towards explaining the demons with which he now struggles.
“When you see someone like Pete, you know there’s a lot going on, but you really don’t know what it is,” Apatow explained to WHO. “I think people are interested in his struggle; they want to know, ‘How are you doing? What happened to you?’ King of Staten Island is an opportunity for Pete to tell you about himself, and to tell you about his feelings and his journey.”
