If there’s one word that has become part of the psyche for any user of a DAW-based composing or production setup, it’s ‘workflow’. We all become reliant, to some degree, on the preset content that ships with both DAWs and softsynth suites, but the ability to expand a package’s horizons with fresh content, could throw a lifeline to the creative process.
This is where Tom Wolfe can help, with the new addition of sounds, created using three industry stalwarts; Spectrasonics Omnisphere, Arturia Pigments and u-he Zebra 2. The new Premier Collection complements the existing onboard content, with a fresh suite of sounds with cinematic tendencies.
The entire Premier Collection package consists of a whopping 1600 new sounds, with the largest amount of content relating to Omnisphere. These sounds are further categorised across nine titles, each with a leaning toward a certain category or style. As an example, the ominous-sounding Oblivion package offers 100 cinematic sci-fi-related patches, perfect for tension-building beds or alien-frenzied danger. The key point that strikes you as you audition the content is the incredible diversity. Tom has given each category a sonic identity, while providing plenty of variation. Blissful pads can coexist with pulsing basses, all elegantly engineered to get the most from the Omnisphere architecture and menu hierarchy. This makes it easy to find suitable patches, without eating into composition time.
