Continuing its upward trend, the Indian telecom industry marked another month of growth by adding 2.27 million mobile subscribers in the mobile telephony market in May 2017.
In the data released by COAI, the apex association of mobile operators in the country, the number of mobile phone subscribers by the end of May 2017 reached 940.72 million. This includes subscribers of Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd. as of April 2017 (Source: TRAI).
Amongst the telecom companies, Bharti Airtel continues to hold the top position, adding another 2.10 million subscribers during May to take its total subscriber base to 278.60 million. Airtel is closely followed by Vodafone with total 210.95 million subscribers, Idea Cellular with 196.24 million subscribers and RJio with 112.55 million subscribers. With 29.63%, Bharti Airtel continues to own the maximum market share in the industry
