DOVEDALE ARTS FESTIVAL

Three days of literature, poetry, drama, music, art, crafts and walking at the Izaak Walton Hotel in Dovedale. The Allegri String Quartet kicks-off proceedings on the 8th to be followed by talks from actor Julian Glover, V&A Director Tristram Hunt, playwright Michael Frayn, authors Claire Tomalin, Jon McGregor and Lucy Hughes-Hallett, and poets Helen Mort and Katharine Towers. A new festival musical written by Mark Chichester-Clark premières on the 9th. Ceramics, collages, prints and paintings from a host of local artists ensure a vibrant event. www.dovedalearts.co.uk
