CDs For Dogs? They Must Be Barking Mad

We are known as a nation of canine lovers, but some people are just taking that to ridiculous extremes.

CDs For Dogs? They Must Be Barking Mad

MRS. v. S. and I were visiting the Meon Valley home of some friends the other day. It was beautifully appointed. But one accessory took us by surprise – a CD for the dog.

Our friends have just acquired a young wheaten terrier and they’ve bought her a sound effects CD, a canine one. It’s to help the pup get used to loud noises. So the first time she hears a real Chinook going over from RAF Odiham, it will be old news. When there’s a big firework display locally, it should be met with nothing more than a shrug of doggy shoulders.

You can see the thinking. But the dog CD has raised some troubling questions.
