Tresor tells us how music is helping him deal with his hijacking horror

It's safe to say he’s had a few tough months. After being shoved in the boot of his car while hijackers cleaned out his bank account and gallivanted around town with him, Tresor was understandably traumatised.

The award-winning musician sought help to deal with his horror hijacking but just when he felt safe enough to be out and about in crowds again, another disaster struck.

“I was in New York recently with plans to record in Los Angeles for about two weeks when I had to urgently fly back home because things got out of hand with the Coronavirus pandemic,” Tresor tells DRUM.

“I had to be safe and make sure others were also safe by returning home and observing self-isolation.”

Tresor considers himself a global citizen and as much as he loves jet setting the world to perform for fans, he’s also a responsible resident so he’s staying put in South Africa.

“I love travelling the world for my music. Italy has been one of the most amazing places – the food is amazing and the people are kind. I get amazing support from there and now, with the coronavirus pandemic having been worse in Italy and South Africa, everything needs to be on hold,” he says.

Tresor has been hunkering down at his Joburg home. “I’ve set up a gym at home where I will be working out and making sure I stay healthy and stressfree.

“I wake up, exercise; attend to some mails and meetings with my team, some meetings via international calls; and usually end up in studio until early morning. That is my life.

“It’s a good time for me to be creative, to recover and to make great music at home.”
