Are You Madly In Love With Your Best Friend!

Studies say that we mistake love for friendship for the same reasons that we usually imagine they are different. Robert J Sternberg and Karin Weis, in their book The New Psychology Of Love, state that in a survey conducted among college students, most participants talked about themes of friendship while describing romance and they usually named their romantic partners as their best friends. So the platonic relationship you have with your friend could have always contained romantic undercurrents. Till one fine day, it becomes painfully clear to you that this is love. If he feels the same way too, then that’s perfect. But if he doesn’t, this needn’t be the end of the world (or your relationship).

FIRST STOP: REJECTION

This particular journey starts here. You reveal your feelings to him hoping he’ll feel the same way. It’s what IT professional Tina Alex did: “I told him how I felt about him, but he said he could not see me as anything other than his friend. I was ready to accept that. But he acts as if nothing’s happened and that actually bothers me more. I don’t want to hear about his office crushes anymore. Why can’t he see that?”
