Great oral sex need not be a chore or challenge. Neeti Jaychander speaks to experts to give you tips on how to get the act right.
Many find oral sex, which involves using your mouth, lips and tongue to provide sexual pleasure to your partner, intimidating. However, it’s a proven fact that it helps enhance a sexual encounter. If you are looking for a complete guide on how to ace the game, look no further. PS: You can thank us later.
Get the basics right
Firstly, hydrate yourself. Oral sex is a lot of effort involving the use of saliva. You don’t want to be tired or dehydrated during the act. Brush your teeth and use a mouthwash. Make sure your partner cleans up his genital area beforehand too, for optimum overall hygiene. Coimbatore-based sexologist Dr Simra Kishore advises, “Oral sex is about your mouth coming into contact with the most intimate part of your partner's body. To ensure that there is no cross-transfer of any infections or bacteria, it is vital to maintain hygiene. Genital fluids, urine, sweat, pubic hair, and semen, are all carriers of infection. Similarly, your mouth may also be a carrier for bacteria, especially if you are prone to mouth sores and ulcers. So are your hands, if you're using them on your partner’s genitals. For this reason, hygiene is of utmost importance.”
Don’t ignore the foreplay
Be it intercourse or oral sex, foreplay is bound to amplify the pleasure. Psychologist and relationships counsellor Manjula MK says, “Even if you’re planning to have oral sex, you needn’t start off there for stimulation. You can turn your partner on with foreplay—kissing, undressing, caressing, and stimulating each other's erogenous zones. Not only does this prolong the pleasure, but also helps you find the right posture for the experience, and once you do go down on him, he’s more than prepared for it.” To set the mood, talk dirty or whisper sweet nothings into his ears.
