When it comes to sex, avoid the ‘R’ word at all costs. Confused? We’re talking about routine. There’s nothing that turns sex into a mundane chore like doing the same thing every single time. Luckily, there is another ‘R’ word that serves as the perfect antidote to this. Role- playing can be just what a couple needs to turn a dull bedroom into a naughty playroom. “Role-playing can bring back the spark in a long-term relationship and enhance the quality of the sexual experience. It makes for great sex, great memories and helps you bond as a couple,” says Indraja Saroha, a sex positivity activist and blogger. From what to how, we get experts on board to answer all your queries. Read on to learn how you can become the star of your own fantasy.

WHAT IS IT?

Simply put, role-playing is acting to be someone you are not. In a sexual roleplay, the context is always erotic. Joy Willingly, a founding member of Kinky Collective, an Indian BDSM group, explains, “One can be anyone, from a police officer to a professor. This, of course, doesn’t mean that you seize to be who you are beyond the ambit of such role-play. Nor does it mean your partner loves the character you’re playing more,” he says. It could range from an elaborate setup where you play a completely different character or might involve you simply stepping out of your comfort zone and acting in a way you wouldn’t.

WHY SHOULD I TRY IT?
