My Priority Is Transparent and Proactive Policing

Can you reconstruct your childhood, adulthood and experiences for our readers?

My parents are from Haryana. I was born and brought up in Delhi. I had my schooling from Delhi and later I did my engineering from Delhi College of Engineering. After engineering I appeared from UPSC and in year 1996 I got selected for IPS.

You hold a degree in engineering from the Delhi College of Engineering, a diploma in mass communication and a PG degree in Human rights and also a Ph.D. degree for Doctoral Research in the field of Management of Mega Events. So why you chose to become an IPS officer?

I personally believe that one must not stop learning and gathering knowledge. Before joining Police service I was just an engineer. Then later on I did all these degrees. Another thing is my father was in Police Service. He joined as Assistant Sub Inspector in Delhi Police and Retired as Assistant Commissioner of Police. I have seen how policing is done and that have shaped my mind. I thought that this is the best service where we can do many good things for society.
