Speaking with musicradar.com recently, Grammy-nominated producer Romesh Dodangoda offered his wisdom on recording at home. And, though we’re looking at mixing, there’s some more general advice here that might just bear fruit earlier on in the recording process too – especially if you’re mic’ing up real amps and cabs. 1. GO EASY ON THE GAIN
“You usually need less gain than you think. Pick the guitar tone while the track is playing so you can see what a song needs, rather than just a tone you think is good.”
