MAYHEM OF THE MUSKS

The recent rift between Elon Musk and his transgender daughter is just the latest in a long list of fascinating family stories

MAYHEM OF THE MUSKS

A SISTER with a streaming service dedicated to raunchy romance flicks. An age-defying mother who became the oldest model to grace the cover of a swimsuit magazine. A father who shares a child with his former stepdaughter. And at the centre, an eccentric billionaire son who couldn’t stay out of the spotlight even if he wanted to.

Welcome to the dysfunctional but oh-so-fascinating Musk family.

Hardly a month goes by without one of them grabbing headlines and this time – once again – it’s Elon (50). The Tesla and SpaceX CEO is in the news after his transgender daughter filed court papers saying she doesn’t want to be related to him anymore.

The 18-year-old, named Xavier Musk at birth, has successfully sought to have her name changed to Vivian Jenna Wilson. In her petition, she includes a short explanation for her request for the changes: “Gender identity and the fact that I no longer live with or wish to be related to my biological father in any way, shape or form.”

It’s unclear what drove Vivian’s desire to disown the richest man on the planet, but there’s a strong likelihood his lack of tolerance for the LGBTQI+ community could have something to do with it.

In 2020 he was criticised for sharing a series of tweets mocking people who use pronouns in their bio on social media.

“I absolutely support trans, but all these pronouns are an aesthetic nightmare,” he tweeted.
