REBEL WITH A CAUSE

Since losing weight the actress has been shocked by how differently people treat her

WHEN she embarked on her year of living healthily she always maintained that weight-loss wasn’t her main motivation.

She wanted to ditch her bad habits, feel energized, and invest in her wellness. Sure, she planned to kick some kilos too but not because she felt any pressure to do so – on the contrary, Hollywood loved her for being the larger-than-life funny girl who poked fun at her fat rolls and stood out from the crowd.

But it wasn’t in the best interests of her health, Rebel Wilson said, announcing she had set herself a target of 75 kg to reach by the end of 2020 – a goal she reached a month in advance.

All good then, right? Rebel is looking great – all glowing skin, sexy curves, and toned limbs. But she’s learnt a few sobering lessons along the way – including that the world treats her differently now that she’s 30-plus kilos lighter.

“Sometimes being bigger, people don’t necessarily look twice at you,” the 40-year-old Australian star says, opening up about how her life has changed on an Aussie radio show.

“Now that I’m in good shape, people offer to carry my groceries to the car and hold doors open for you. I’m like, is this what other people experienced all the time?

“I also find it interesting that people pay so much attention to a weight-loss transformation when there’s so much going on in the world.”

Despite a surge in body positivity role models, too much emphasis is placed on size, Rebel believes.

“I would say to everyone out there, don’t be obsessed about how much you actually weigh. It’s more about all the healthy practices.
