Just as a rose by any other name would smell as sweet, a Lea Colombo artwork by any other name would be just as colourful. To know the Cape Town-born photographer and artist is to recognise that all her works emphasise colour, light and emotion. The creative nomad may have found her footing as a self-taught artist, but it was her commercial work as a photographer and director that cemented her place among the most influential global fashion names - even as her profile as a fine artist continues to rise.
Her distinct signature is about intense saturated colour, with nothing pared back for the sake of minimalism. This month, the vibrant and atmospheric world of Colombo arrives at London-based fashion brand COS in the form of a capsule collection. COS x Lea Colombo displays a spectrum of colour that showcases the chromaticity at the heart of her creative practice, which spans fine, installation, and experiential art. The inspiration of natural beauty - specifically flora and fauna - is seen in wearable canvases. Intensely pigmented hues marry sculptural shapes with fluidity, and this can be most clearly seen in three exclusive prints on warm-weather staples for men and women.
