PUBLIC SCHOOL AND MOËT & CHANDON EPITOMIZE WORK-HARD, PLAY HARD.
Nestled in the scenic countryside of Epernay, France, the historically lavish Moët Maison is home to one of the largest wine and champagne collections in Europe. It’s also where designers Dao-Yi Chow and Maxwell Osborne, the creative pundits behind Public School, met with cellar master Benoît Gouez to find their inspiration for a limited-edition range of three exclusive bottle designs for Moët & Chandon.
The new designs for Nectar Imperial Rosé highlights both brands’ aesthetics by incorporating each’s signature colors—Public School’s black with Moët’s rosé pink—in revealing ways. “We wanted to see how little we could show,” Chow explains. “The idea was to cover everywhere that you normally see [the champagne’s rosé color], and reveal it where you don’t. In effect, you end up thinking about the rosé even more.” He’s right. The color inversion contains subtle nuances that force the eye to appreciate the glimpses of liquid in a new light, emphasized literally with hidden design details that are visible only when illuminated.
