Romanticize…reality
Your date is still days away, but you can’t stop picturing how it’s going to happen. Whether you’re expecting a flawless night at your school’s fall dance or hoping they’ll show up with flowers and your favorite chai, it’s easy to analyze the entire night before it even occurs.
THE FIX: Being excited about a date is great, but game it out too much in your head and it’s easy to be disappointed when things don’t go the way you pictured. Of course, you deserve *all* the dreamy moments—but it doesn’t all have to be perfect. Don’t let a mishap (like a pizza sauce stain or heads colliding when you go in for a kiss) totally ruin your night. It’s all part of the journey (and you can hopefully laugh about it later).
Lose the screens
When the convo goes silent, it’s easy to rely on digital devices— to simply show your date some pics from your family’s summer lake trip or the TikTok that cracks you up. But once the eyes go to the screens, it can be hard to get back to, well, real-life face time.
