Her writing has included plays, novels, poetry, essays and reimaging Indian spiritual writings. Her critically acclaimed books include, Ganesha Goes to Lunch:Classics from Mystic India (2007, Mandala, USA; also retitled Classic Tales from Mystic India, Jaico Publishing, 2013), and Rumi’s Tales from the Silk Road, Pilgrimage to Paradise (Mandala USA and Penguin India, 2009). Her highly praised books of poetry are As a Fountain in a Garden (Tarang Press, 2005) and Radha Sings (Dark Child Press, 1987).The Singing Guru, on the legends of Guru Nanak from Mandala in 2015. And now is back with a new book , which is the second novel in the Sikh Saga series, Into the Great Heart, begins where the first book, The Singing Guru, ends: with the entry of Bhai Lehna, later to become Guru Angad, the second Sikh Guru who succeeded Guru Nanak. While some historical characters, like Bhai Buddha, a child prodigy who lived to 101 and spanned the lifetimes of many gurus, are carried over from the first novel into the sequel, several new ones are added, mainly women.

What kind of educational background do you have?

My early education was mainly in India, I got my Bachelor’s from a Government College and a Masters’ degree in English and American Literature at Kent State University in Ohio. a Ph.D. after two years of course work. Later, in the early nineties, I took some online classes from Iowa and USCD.
