There's no silver bullet to stop the clock but aesthetic technologies have made great leaps in recent years, and show great promise in repairing what age, gravity and the environment have done to your skin. Ahead, some of the latest and greatest non-surgical skincare treatments that let you hit the 'pause' button.
TIGHTEN UP
Loss of firmness is one of the main skin woes that comes with age. Sofwave utilises a high-intensity, multiple ultrasound beam technology to stimulate the production of collagen which is what gives us the supple, smooth mien of youth.
Ultrasound energy produces micro injuries at a depth of 1.5mm, which is the mid-dermal layer where collagen is formed by fibroblast cells. These controlled injuries trigger a healing response by the skin to increase collagen synthesis, thus leading to improved skin elasticity and a reduction in fine lines.
Sofwave is able to generate energy and temperature stronger than other ultrasound devices, heating up the mid-dermis to temperatures of between 60 to 70 deg C. Yet the treatment remains comfortable as the handpiece used to deliver ultrasound energy has an integrated cooling mechanism.
Sofwave can be used on the face, neck and even the abdomen and knees. While you can see results immediately post-treatment due to the heat and swelling, it will take 10 to 12 weeks for the best results, similar to other collagen-stimulating procedures.
Sofwave is available at Mizu Aesthetic Clinic, ION Orchard #05-01
