For our Heroes Issue, we assembled singer Harris Baba, rapper Yung Raja, and actors Richie Koh and Aaron Mossadeg, and set the stage for these daring dynamos to share their individual journeys with one another. Here’s what the local lineup revealed.
Interviewed by Harris Baba
I hear you’ve been acting for a year now. Do you enjoy it?
It’s what I live for. To me, acting is intriguing, appealing, and attractive. There’s a lot to gain with acting as well, whether it’s personal growth, charisma or confidence. It’s something I would consider doing for the rest of my life.
Let’s talk about the roles you have done.
Well, I’ve done quite a few. My first was playing a mummy’s boy, followed by a guy from a rich family who’s lacking familial love. After that, I moved to China, where I played a detective’s assistant; it was actually a role playing a role.
That’s a twist right there. I played a guy who was the eyes of the mob, feeding information to the boss in jail while acting dumb as the detective’s assistant. It’s quite a fantastic role. And China was an eye-opener for me. After that, I came back to do 23:59 II, which is coming out this National Day.
That’s a nice portfolio. You’re going all out to pursue acting full time.
Yeah, of course. I have a clear path with acting, even though you never know what comes to you. There’s this latest character I did; you know how you had an imaginary friend when you were young? He lives in your world and doesn’t affect the people around you. But somehow, this script says that he does, because he’s actually a twin living inside of me. It’s a medical term called “foetus in fetu”, and it gets a bit psychotic towards the end. It’s a local online drama, so there’s more freedom to play around with.
Sounds like another fun role. Between Singapore and China, where would you want to be acting more?
