If Zoey Deutch was any busier, she’d be a blur. In the last year, she’s starred as a college kid in Richard Linklater’s Slacker style comedy Everybody Wants Some!!, a daughter getting dad Bryan Cranston in a flap with her choice of socially awkward tech boyfriend in Why Him? and won rave reviews at Sundance Film Festival for her part in Rebel In The Rye, about the author JD Salinger. Her starring role as Sam in this spring’s Before I Fall saw her die in a car crash and magically come back to life, but forced to relive her last day over and over again.
Born in LA, Deutch’s big break was as Rose Hathaway in Vampire Academy. Her career can’t have come as a surprise to her family – they’re all in film, too. Her mum is actress turned-director Lea Thompson, her dad is director Howard Deutch and her older sister Madelyn is a fellow actress. But don’t let that put you off. After macchiatos with her during Milan Fashion Week, we can confirm she bears no resemblance to a #RichKidofInstagram.
She’s big on activism – a supporter of Planned Parenthood, she was also a vocal participant in the Women’s March. The proud recipient of the 2017 Women In Film Max Mara Face Of The Future Award, she’s in Milan to attend the Max Mara AW17 show. Here, she talks style highlights and fashion faux pas…
