SARAH MEIER GETS A SNEAK PEEK INTO NEW YORK’S LATEST OBSESSION THROUGH THE EYES OF ITS TOP ARTISTS
It’s how you frame it, darling. Success, that is. But in the case of this success story, framing could also allude to the face.
We’re on the 10th floor of a building in Chelsea, in the spa-like sanctuary of a specialized microblading salon, and designing ways to frame the face just happens to be their specialty.
Allow me to digress a bit here on my personal terrors with face framing. If there’s one thing that will trip me up when doing makeup, it’s the brows. No matter how much muscle memory can guide this old hand in gliding on eyeshadow or swiping on lipstick without a mirror, I can never get my brows consistently right; doesn’t matter how big the mirror, how bright my light, how much time, or what tools I have in my makeup kit. As our former beauty editor Charmagne Laconico always emphasized, getting the brows right sets the rest of your face up for success. Get them wrong? There’s not much you can do elsewhere to salvage the imbalance.
It took me awhile to match Charmagne’s seriousness about brows, but after a closer look at the photographic evidence of my early brow mishaps, I am seeking belated redemption.
Seems like I’m not alone. As the statistics show, the now 80 clients spilling into this salon on a weekly basis are looking for a better and longer lasting solution, and Ramon Padilla has it ready for them.
