Antony means BUSINESS!

StyleSpeak meets the internationally acclaimed, multi award-winning stylist-turned educator, motivator, business coach and best-selling author, Antony Whitaker! Being the global Ambassador for Business Education at Schwarzkopf Professional worldwide, Antony Whitaker throws light on how important it is to make your employee grow for your salon business to grow. What’s more? Read on to know why sometimes giving discounts can work against your strategy of growth and more...

How should one go about expanding his salon?

To expand your salon, you need to develop a business that is systemised. If everything is dependent on the owner/ manager being there 24/7, then the growth of the business is restricted. never forget that the ‘product’ of hairdressing is our ‘people’, and to attract and retain loyal, motivated people, you need to invest in their professional development. If you fail to do so, you might expand but you will not have, or attract, the quality and quantity of people needed to grow over the long term.

Recognise that people will leave you, if you are not prepared for that to happen then don’t go into business. Staff do not have to stay, some will and some won’t, so do not take it personally when and if they decide to leave.
