Anchor, actress, fashion designer, mother… the list goes on… Mandira Bedi juggles her many roles with elan. But the one role she’s extremely passionate about is that of a fitness enthusiast.

With her lean, toned body and washboard abs, Mandira can easily give the younger actors a run for their money. In a freewheeling chat with us, she speaks on being a fitness freak, on motherhood, postpartum depression, upcoming projects and more… Excerpts from the interview:

Fit Hit

“I have always been fit, but now I am definitely in better shape. In fact, I am in the best phase of my life right now!

“However, what triggered my healthy lifestyle was the show ‘Khatron Ke Khiladi’, a reality TV show where contestants win tasks on the merit of their physical and mental strengths.

“I thought I needed to be absolutely fit and look perfect if I was going to be on national television everyday. I got very serious and started working out rigorously, so much so that by the end of the show during a press conference I had a small accident in which I broke my ankle, and the first thought that popped in my mind was how will I exercise now? That’s how fitness crazy I became…”

Baby Boon

“The next trigger was in 2011. I put on a lot of weight when I was pregnant with my son Vir. Though I was careful of what I was eating, I did not stop myself, I ate everything I craved for.

“I also had a very complicated pregnancy, and was not allowed to do any form of exercise. I was on bed throught the pregnancy, due to which I gained 22 kgs!
