A cozy fireplace with a statement mantel may be the dream of every home décor enthusiast; however, not everyone is lucky enough to have one. It certainly does not mean your Christmas stockings need to remain in storage or miss a visit from Santa.
We asked three creatives how they solve this no-mantel dilemma in their homes, and between them, six festive ideas emerged.
6 STOCKING SHOWCASES
Jill Flory, a designer and seamstress, makes wonderful use of her open staircase to display her family’s stockings. She used thin ribbon to tie each stocking to a stair rail, or they can be tied to hang from the garland as well.
If you love the sweater-style stockings shown here, visit Jill’s shop at sewafineseam. com. Made from thrifted sweaters detailed with bits of vintage lace and trim, each is one of a kind. Prices range from $19 to $45.
