On a good day, you can be found snapping your spa sessions and solo dates, but when things aren’t going very well, chances are you’re blaming yourself for everything that’s going wrong. Does this mean you love yourself any less? It’s a tough question, but with a little nurturing and digging deep within, you can begin the process of true self-love. Sumaiya Shuaibdeen shows you how to love yourself unapologetically.
It’s easy to get caught up proving to the world that you love yourself without truly knowing how you feel about yourself. This can lead to you believing that you’re a terrible person when people, in fact, you aren’t and only need a little wake-up call. First, re-establish a connection with yourself. Second, find ways to maintain that bond no matter what the circumstance. Here are a few key tips to help you rediscover self-love.
TIP 1
HAVE A SOLUTION-ORIENTED PERSPECTIVE
If you’re not getting something right or when you make a blunder, stop immersing in negative thoughts and turning it against yourself. Instead, ask yourself how you can solve it and move on. For instance, there could be times when you have no idea why your boyfriend is constantly mad at you, so start writing down your thoughts to flesh out the problem at hand. You should also be well aware about what you can control and what’s well out of your power. This way, you’ll be able to avoid the unnecessary self-blame that follows.
