EVER SINCE HER APARTMENT FLOODED, the 24-year-old chart-topping pop star Dua Lipa has been social distancing with boyfriend Anwar Hadid in a London Airbnb. She caught up with GQ from the couch, her home base for promoting her new album – her well-received sophomore effort, Future Nostalgia, which was released in the wake of announced lockdowns – and possibly for recording her next music video.
GQ: How have you made this Airbnb feel like home?
Dua Lipa: I brought card games and candles, canvases and paints. Even bringing our own herbs and spices from my flat makes it just feel ours. It’s got a garden and enough space to dance in the kitchen. Also I dyed my hair pink.
GQ: Did Anwar help with the dye job?
DL: I jumped in the shower, washed my hair, and then tied the dark part underneath. Anwar dyed the top. I waited 15 minutes, got back in the shower, washed it all off. And that was it. Easy.
GQ: How have you adapted to social distancing with a partner? Have you faced any challenges in living together?
DL: I’m a lot more organised and Anwar’s maybe – not so much, so together we make a really good team. I think love is also letting go of control.
