GQ: Where does your name come from?

Young Stilo: It comes from the streets. People said I look like Stilo Magolide and they think we’re siblings.

GQ: Where did you grow up and where are you currently based?

YS: I was born and raised in South Africa, and I’m currently based in Hillbrow.

OPPOSITE PAGE All-black two-piece outfit Dickies Clothing & Accessories; shoes Jonathan D Africa; sunglasses Era by DJ Zinhle

GQ: Looking at your work, it seems like you’re an all-around creative. If you had to define your role, what would it be?

YS: I’m a photographer, creative director, content creator, model and fashion trendsetter.

GQ: When did you first discover photography?

YS: My love for it started when I was in high school. I’d take pictures with a phone and edit them using the PicsArt app. When my uncle gave me my first camera, I completely fell in love with photography.

GQ: Which photographers do you admire?

YS: The only photographer I look up to is David Lachapelle, whose work is unique. His creativity is out of this world.

GQ: Who or what have been your favourite subjects to shoot?
