A Blissful Retreat

Bali never fails to weave its magic of elevating your senses and serenading your soul.

A Blissful Retreat

The definition of ‘holiday’ can mean different things to different people. For some, it ignites the adrenaline junkie within and to others it’s to have a digital detox. Since we were in Bali for our honeymoon, the hubby and I decided to have a little of both, based on our three criteria – sun, sand and sea!

A LONG RIDE

To be honest, this trip wasn’t very thoroughly planned because it was right after our wedding. With better planning any trip would be a lot smoother, especially when it comes to booking transportation and activities – you’re less likely to get lured into tourist traps.

Taxi haggling is common in Bali and if you’re not up for that, I’d recommend downloading these e-hailing apps, Grab or Bluebird taxi (flagging a taxi is fine too, as they are all metered). However, beware of taxis that pose as Bluebird taxis – they have different spellings to confuse you at first glance! You can, of course, get the resort or hotel to book you one, but expect to pay an exorbitant sum.

We landed at Ngurah Rai International Airport in Denpasar, Bali and decided to head straight to one of the Nusa islands by Grab and public speedboat (around RM90 per person for a round trip) from Sanur Beach. You can book in advance, so you carry less cash, but if you choose not to, there are many boat services to choose from along Sanur Beach. Depending on your preferred level of comfort, you can choose to travel to one of the Nusa islands onboard a cruise ship, fast cruiser, slow public boat or a public speed boat. Tip: Choose one that will transport you right to the door of your stay!
