In a world of glam and beauty, our cover mom, Tatum Keshwar talks of the amazing beauty that comes with being an expectant mom
At the crowning of Miss South Africa 2018 we were reminded why we fell in love with the beauty that is Tatum Keshwar, our Miss South Africa 2008. This time around though, we’re not looking at when she’ll be walking the runway again, but at the journey she’s travelled with the little one she’s about to bring into this world. With faith on her side, nothing can stop this mom-to-be from soaring high.
HOW WAS YOUR CHILDHOOD?
I grew up in Durban. My childhood was a good one. I have a younger sister and we’re as close as can be. I have a lot of cousins and I would see them every weekend, so it’s safe to say I come from a close-knit family. And growing around that closeness is something I want for myself and my family. Now as a grown up, I miss having everyone together around the Sunday lunch table, and also the sense of community our areas had when we were growing up. You know that happy picture of kids in the neighbourhood playing together on the road…It all screams home and unity.
DESCRIBE THE TYPE OF RELATIONSHIP YOU HAVE WITH YOUR PARENTS AND HOW IT HAS SHAPED YOUR FUTURE.
I have a good relationship with my parents. I’ve come to realise that as we get older, we see our parents in a different way because we are understanding of the love and sacrifice it took to get us to the people we are today. I see them not just as parents but also as individuals who have their own hopes and dreams and have an appreciation for the paths they have walked.
