Loved by many for her melodic voice, singer, songwriter and actress, Thandeka Zulu along with her fiancé, Sabelo Ngema, are about to take on the roles of mom and dad in real life
At just the age of 26, many know Thandeka for her role as Nombuso on Durban-based telenovela UZalo on SABC 1. She is also a dancer and is part of a band called Afrosoul. She also appeared in a film called Kwaito Church Service 2, and also portrayed Pearl on Etv drama series called The Girl Is Mine. She’s about to take the biggest, most demanding role of her life, that of a mother, and we were more than eager to hear how she’s doing and how she plans on tackling this new phase in her life with Sabelo right next to her.
Q. BEFORE WE GO STRAIGHT INTO THE NEWS OF THE PREGNANCY, TELL US A BIT ABOUT YOUR LIFE GROWING UP?
I’m from a township called Hambanathi, found right within the sugarcanes of KwaZulu Natal in Tongaat. When I think back to my childhood days, I can only come back with the greatest memories. I come from a Christian household, and was at church on Sundays with my mother, UmaVezi, who raised me all by herself. I think a part of me misses being my mother’s little princess. I remember how she would always allow me to go for dance rehearsals, provided that I came back home right after the rehearsals. So it’s easy to assume that performing has been something close to my heart. I was interested in just about anything –that was community orientated, be it modeling, singing or dancing, Thandeka Zulu was there and ready to do her thing!
