Mithila Palkar arrived on the OTT scene back in 2016 in the form of Dice Media’s rom-com Little Things, when the industry was still in its nascent stage, and no one knew what a mammoth the OTT world would go on to become. Since then, there has been no looking back. Palkar, who scored a Best Female Actor in a Comedy Series win at the Filmfare OTT Awards last year, is now gearing up for the launch of the fourth season of the series. Post the first season of the said series, Palkar got to work with two of the finest actors of our country, and all of this happened in just a span of five years.
In a telephonic interview on a Sunday morning, I was surprised to find that the usually cheery on-screen persona of the actor doesn’t really run parallel to her own life. It rather converges beautifully, and that’s probably what resonates the most with her fans. She calls herself a “greedy artiste”, something that she says might have a negative connotation, but as an artist, she wants to explore everything — be it singing, dancing, or acting. She went on the stage as an actor when she was 12. She tried to move away from acting, but she simply couldn’t. And thank god for that, for we would have then not been blessed with one of the most promising actors of our generation.
It is common knowledge now that Palkar has a knack for picking up interesting projects. However, in her case, the process of going ahead with a project doesn’t involve any kind of intuition. “When I read the script, it’s about how I feel as an audience. Is it something that I would like to watch? And when I look at it from an actor’s lens, I ask myself if it is a story that I would want to tell,” Palkar says.
