CANADA Enjoy Eclectic Experiences

CALGARY STAMPEDE

Often, you will find travellers intentionally planning their trip to Canada around Calgary Stampede, which is the most anticipated 10-day annual rodeo festival and exhibition the country holds. During these days, you will find the city in a party atmosphere and people who would otherwise prefer wearing suits dress up in an altogether different style—in jeans, teamed up with cowboy boots. Not only this, the office buildings and storefronts are painted in cowboy themes. Daily rodeo events, thrill rides, games, food and the nightly Grandstand show draws people heavily from all across the world and are a must to attend. In addition, free Stampede breakfasts, usually consisting of pancakes and barbecues, are also hosted by various establishments either at indoor or outdoor locations. Over the years, it has become a point of significant tourist attraction.

GROS MORNE NATIONAL PARK

A UNESCO world heritage site, the Gros Morne National Park is located on the west coast of Newfoundland and derives its name from Newfoundland’s second highest mountain peak. Remotest of many of Canada’s most popular national parks, the Gros Morne National Park is a place to explore for its beautiful landscape of mountains and fjords. The park features steep cliff walls, waterfalls and interesting rock formations carved by the glacierfed waters, which are a major attraction. Tourists are often interested in taking a boat tour, thereby indulging in appreciating the beauty in the vicinity, enjoying hiking trails and exploring opportunities for kayaking. Winters are the time open for ski touring, complete with backcountry ski huts. The park too is a rare example of the process of continental drift, where deep ocean crust and rocks of earth’s mantle lie exposed.
